The R.E.S.T Method™: A Calm, Connected Approach to Baby Sleep
A gentle, science-informed framework created to help babies sleep more peacefully while parents feel calm, confident, and supported.
A calm, connected framework for real sleep change
If your baby’s sleep feels unpredictable, exhausting, or impossible to understand, you’re not doing anything wrong. Many parents reach this point after trying routines, advice, and online tips, yet still find themselves awake at night wondering what they’re missing or doing wrong.
The R.E.S.T Method™ offers a calm, connected way to support your baby’s sleep, focusing on understanding your child as an individual rather than forcing them into a rigid system. It is designed to support sleep in a way that feels respectful, sustainable, and aligned with your family’s values.
An approach shaped by real family life
I developed the R.E.S.T Method™ through years of supporting families with their baby’s sleep, alongside my own lived experience of motherhood. As a mum of three, I know first-hand the emotional weight of sleep deprivation, the pressure to feel like you should have it all figured out, and how quickly poor sleep can knock your confidence.
This framework brings together evidence-based sleep science, child development, and the emotional reality of early parenting. It is built on the belief that babies are individuals, all families are different, and sleep support needs to adapt to the child in front of you rather than forcing everyone to follow the same rigid rules.
This framework underpins all of my work with families and is designed to support both better sleep and calmer, more confident parenting.
A framework, not a formula
The R.E.S.T Method™ is structured, but never rigid. It doesn’t rely on fixed schedules, one-size-fits-all routines, or quick fixes. Instead, it looks at the full picture of your baby’s sleep, including temperament, development, environment, daily rhythms, and emotional needs.
By working with these factors together, sleep changes can happen gently and consistently, without compromising connection.
The R.E.S.T Method™ explained
Respond
Sleep begins with connection. So we start by understanding your baby’s cues, temperament, and emotional needs, so you can respond with clarity rather than guesswork. Responsiveness builds the sense of safety that supports calm sleep.
Encourage
With gentle, consistent guidance, we encourage your baby’s natural ability to move towards more independent sleep. Progress happens at a pace that feels manageable and respectful, building confidence for both you and your baby.
Settle
We create rhythms, routines, and sleep environments that support your baby’s biology. This includes looking at naps, bedtime timing, sleep pressure, and the conditions that help your baby settle more easily, with a focus on realistic, lasting change.
Teach
Sleep is not static. Through the REST Method™, you gain the understanding to navigate regressions, transitions, and developmental changes with confidence. Rather than starting from scratch each time, you learn how to adapt as your child grows.
What families gain from the R.E.S.T Method™
Families who follow the R.E.S.T Method™ often notice clearer routines, more settled naps, and calmer nights. Just as importantly, parents feel more confident and less overwhelmed. You understand what is happening, why it matters, and how to respond without second-guessing yourself.
This is not about perfect sleep or rigid expectations. It is about building a foundation that supports rest, connection, and wellbeing for both your baby and you.
Your Questions, Answered
-
Unlike rigid systems that rely on "crying it out" or strict schedules, the R.E.S.T Method™ is a responsive, child-led framework. It focuses on sleep biology and emotional connection, meaning we never ask you to ignore your baby’s cues or leave them to cry.
-
Not at all, I view it as a "framework, not a formula." Whilst I look at rhythms and environments, the plan is built around your baby’s unique temperament and your family’s actual lifestyle, not a stopwatch.
